STORY OF A MAINTENANCE CASE

 

A widow lady namely Smt. Gayatri Devi, R/o. Old Seemapuri, Delhi, Mob No. 9650332330 approached the Front Office, District Legal Services Authority, Shahdara on 13.08.2019. She disclosed that she had two sons and the elder son, who was residing in the same property was not maintaining her and not giving her proper food and clothing. Moreover, wife of the elder son allegedly misbehaved and quarrelled with her. The matter in question was marked to Sh. Abhishek Kumar (Legal Aid Counsel) who was performing Front Office duty and he duly counselled the lady. He consoled her and informed her about her rights and entitlements available under law. Thereafter, with the permission of Ld. Secretary, DLSA Shahdara, the matter was fixed for pre-institution counselling and notice was issued to the applicant’s family i.e. elder son. After few rounds of counselling, LAC Sh. Abhishek Kumar managed to get the dispute settled between the parties. The elder son of Smt. Gayatri Devi agreed to pay Rs. 2,500/- per month to her and also agreed that they would reside with applicant and provide due care and respect to her. Thereafter, the parties thanked the Front Office, DLSA, Shahdara District, Delhi for helping and solving their matter in the best possible way.
