She shared her experiences and insights of work done for the child labourers and explained the traumatic and poignant shades from lives and exploitations of child labourers. UN has announced “Better Knowledge for Better Care” as the theme of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2020. To commemorate the said day in consonance with the theme announced by UN, DLSA NEW DELHI, EAST AND NORTH EAST came together to oraganize a lecture on 26.06.2020 by Sh Subimal Banerjee, from SPYM for Para Legal Volunteers of the three districts to educate them about the magnitude of issue and at the same time that if we come together we can fight it. Our PLVs are our community messengers  and are a link between the nerves of society and our offices, thus , they are the best resource of spreading messages to the community and society as a large .

Ld resource person extensively explained the law on the subject and explained the jurisprudential aspects of the law. The lecture received a phenomenal response and was attended by LACs (ADJ and Civil panel only) from the two districts.

With the aim of removing these difficulties and doubts and for the purpose of promoting uniform practices, DLSA NORTH EAST, EAST, NEW DELHI and SOUTH WEST together organised an interactive session on “BILLS AND ACCOUNTS, DOS AND DONTS FOR LACs and PLVs” on 28.07.2020. The duties of Para-Legal Volunteer involve educating people, especially those belonging to weaker sections of the society, to enable them to be aware of the right to live with human dignity, to enjoy all the Constitutionally and statutorily guaranteed rights, performing the duties and discharging obligations as per law, thus it becomes extremely important that the PLVs be made to learn the nuances of various Socio-Legal subjects and the applicatble laws thereof, so that their societal interactions become more meaningful.

 

Under the aegis of DSLSA and under the guidance of the Ld. Additional Secretary, DSLSA, Ms Namrita Agarwal, E-KNOWLEDGE WEEKLY has been started as a learning series for PLVs and Law Student attached with DSLSA, which will endeavor to bring the PLVs and the executives of DSLSA together, allowing closer interactions and better understanding of the common issues and the working of the two sides.

 

The first session the series was hosted on 08.07.2020 by Sh. Harjeet Singh Jaspal, Secretary, DLSA North East, along with Sh. Sandeep Gupta, Ms. Vidhi Gupta and Ms. Neeti Suri, Ld. Delhi State Legal Services Authority and DLSA NORTH EAST jointly organised a two days training session for nominated LACs of all the districts of Delhi. More often than not parties/ litigants listen to their counsels more than anyone else and once again it is the counsels who have the first opportunity to mediate/negotiate the matters. Keeping the same in mind and with the objective of promoting mediation and settlements and to prevent long litigations, the 4 sessions, of one hour fifteen minute each, endeavored to inculcate techniques of mediation and the tricks of undoing an impasse.

The training program was inaugurated by Ld. Member Secretary Sh Kanwal Jeet Arora. Sh Sudhir Kumar Jain, Ld D & S Judge, NE District, Ms Shalinder Kaur, Ld Principal Judge Family Court, Advocate Ms Neena Khare (Mediator on the Panel of SC) and Advocate Ms Jaya Goyal (Mediation trainer ). The program was Moderated by Ld Secretary DLSA NE Harjeet Singh Jaspal.

From about 130 LACs of the Family Panel more than 100 LACs attended the said sessions on both the days for more than 3 hours each day, making this program a success.

The World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the global water crisis, and a core focus of the observance is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goad (SDG) 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030. The theme of World Water Day 2021 is valuing water. The value of water is about much more than its price- water has enormous and complex value for our household, food, culture, health, education, economics and the integrity of our natural environment. If we overlook any of these values, we risk mismanaging this finite, irreplaceable resource. SDG 6 is to ensure water and sanitation for all. Without a comprehensive understanding of water’s true, multidimensional value, we will be unable to safeguard this critical resource for the benefit of everyone. In view of this, DLSA North Eat in association with DLSA Shahdara organized Capacity Building Programme on “Importance of Water & How to Save the Water”. The National Legal Services Authorities (Free and Competent Legal Services) Regulations, 2010 also mandates for organising training programmes for panel lawyers from time to time to enhance their skills. In view of this, DLSA North East jointly with DLSA South, New Delhi, West, South-East and North organized a webinar on “Execution of Decree: Challenges & Solutions” for all panel lawyers. Sh. Basic legal literacy is necessary for all citizens and making the people who work with NGO’s at the ground level aware about basic laws can go a long way in achieving this as they would disseminate the knowledge further. With this object in mind, DLSA North East under “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, jointly with DLSA (East) in association with CFAR NGO organized a “Three Day Certificate Course”  on Basic Laws, for the volunteers of the said NGO. The contents of the sessions were designed with a view to empower the volunteers to make them more confident and effective while dealing with the people in need of legal aid & assistance. The course commenced on 23.05.2022 and was concluded on 25.05.2022 and the venue was CFAR Setu Single Window, Block-11, House-17-18, Near SBI, Kalyanpuri, Delhi. The topics covered over the span of three days were as follows:

-Role of DLSA and Services being provided by DLSA, -Right to Information Act, 2005, The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, POCSO Act, Juvenile Justice(care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, Maintenance & welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act,

-Basic laws relating to FIRs, Rights of an arrested person & Victim Compensation Scheme,

– PC-PNDT) Act, 1994, The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, The Medical Termination of Pregnant Act, 1971 Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, Relevant Sections of IPC, Protection of Women from Domestic Violence  Act, 2005 & Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act, 2013,

– Matrimonial laws.

A total of 20 Volunteers were trained during the course.

The certificates were awarded to the volunteers on 25.05.2022 when the second batch of volunteers finished their training. The Concluding Day of the Course was graced by the esteemed presence of Sh. Bharat Parashar, Ld. Member Secretary, DSLSA alongwith the other Ld. Officers of DSLSA on 25.05.2022 at 11:30 am onwards at Conference Hall, 3rd floor, Karkardooma Courts, Delhi.  A total of 45 Volunteers were trained during the course.
