DLSA South-East, under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA), organised an awareness session in association with Jan Sahas NGO on the topic “Say No to Dowry: Legal Rights and Protection of Women Against Dowry Harassment” on 29.09.2026 from 02:30 PM to 04:30 PM at Gali No. 18, Chawriya Mohalla, Tughlaqabad Village, South-East Delhi-110044. The session was organised in furtherance of the directions issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in State of Uttar Pradesh v. Ajmal Beg & Ors., Misc. Application Nos. 2689-2690 of 2025 in Criminal Appeal Nos. 132-133 of 2017, vide order dated 20.08.2026. Adv. Palak Munjal, LSA, acted as the Resource Person and sensitised the participants about the legal rights and protections available to women against dowry harassment, the harmful consequences of dowry practices, and the importance of seeking timely legal assistance. The participants were also made aware about the DSLSA Helpline No. 1516 (24×7), NALSA Helpline No. 15100, and the salient working of DLSA. The programme was organised with the coordination of Jan Sahas NGO with the objective of promoting awareness regarding the legal prohibition of dowry, protection of women from dowry-related harassment and access to available legal remedies. The programme witnessed the participation of approximately 30 beneficiaries.
