Delhi State Legal Services Authority has launched a special project “वाणी – सशक्त आवाज, सक्षम समाज” with week-long activities to celebrate International Women’s Day from 02.03.2025 to 08.03.2025. On this occasion, DLSA South-East, under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority and Delhi State Legal Services Authority, has conducted various awareness sessions for women, transgender individuals/sex workers and community members. The details of the sessions are provided below:
- On March 2, 2025, South-East DLSA, in collaboration with the Vipla Foundation, organized an awareness session for community women on the topic of ” Domestic ViolenceAct, 2005” in Sarai Kale Khan, New Delhi. About 30 women, along with staff members, participated in the session. The focus was on educating women about domestic violence, its legal implications, and the available support systems. Attendees were informed about the NALSA Helpline (15100) and DSLSA Helpline (1516), both of which operate 24×7, and about the key features of the DSLSA’s functioning.
- On March 2, 2025, South-East DLSA, in collaboration with the SPYM NGO, organized an awareness session on the topic of “Sexual Offences Against Women: Section 376, 376A, 376B & 376C” for female residents of Rain Basera, Sarai Kale Khan, New Delhi. Around 20 women participated in the session. The focus was on educating them about various legal provisions related to sexual offenses. Attendees were also informed about the NALSA Helpline (15100) and DSLSA Helpline (1516), both available 24×7 for immediate legal assistance. Additionally, the session highlighted the key features of the DSLSA’s functioning, such as providing free legal aid, organizing Lok Adalats for dispute resolution, offering counseling services, and maintaining a panel of lawyers to ensure that women have access to legal support and representation.
- On March 7, 2025, South-East DLSA, in collaboration with Plan India NGO and Cyber Police Station South-East District, conducted an awareness session for community women at Mother Dairy Park, near Police Post, Gautampuri, New Delhi. The session covered two important topics: “The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006″ and “Cyber Security/Online Payment Safety”. Around 200 women, along with staff, attended the session, which aimed to educate them on the legal aspects of these issues and the available support systems. The attendees were also informed about the 24×7 NALSA Helpline (15100) and DSLSA Helpline (1516), as well as the key functions of the South-East DLSA.
- On March 7, 2025, the South-East District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), in collaboration with Udayan Care NGO and Netream Eye Foundation, organized a comprehensive Mega Legal Services Camp at Harijan Camp, Meharchand Market, Lodhi Colony, New Delhi. The camp aimed to provide essential services to the local community, ensuring access to legal, health, and civic resources. Several key services were offered, including a Legal Aid Help Desk to assist with legal matters, a Free Eye Checkup Camp to address vision-related concerns, and a Voter ID Registration Camp to facilitate the process of obtaining voter identification. Additionally, the camp hosted a Labour Card Registration Camp to help workers access labor-related benefits, an initiative to open Zero Balance Bank Accounts for financial inclusion, and the distribution of Sanitary Kits to promote hygiene and well-being. This initiative benefited around 600 people,
- On March 5, 2025, the South-East DLSA, in collaboration with the Bal Vikas Dhara NGO, organized an awareness session for transgender individuals and sex workers on the topic “Legal Rights of Sex Workers & Fundamental Rights” at Plot No. 4, behind IBP Prakash Petro Pump, near Tanvi Oyo, Badarpur. Approximately 40 people, along with staff members, participated in the session. The session aimed to raise awareness about the legal provisions related to the topic, their implications, and the available support systems. Attendees were informed about the NALSA Helpline (15100) and the DSLSA Helpline (1516), both of which operate 24×7, as well as the key features of the DSLSA’s functions.
