In one of the cases settled by MACT Lok Adalat which was organised in Dwarka Court Complex, a compensation of Rs. 1.18 Crore was granted to the kin of Ms. Geeta Devi who was hit by a truck on December 30, 2019 and had succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. The family of the 49 Year Old woman, who lost her life after being hit by a truck on the road while walking in Dwarka Sector-8 has been granted a compensation of Rs. 1,18,25,000 by the Lok Adalat with Presiding Officer ( Motor Accident Claims Tribunal) being Dr. Sumedh Kumar Sethi. The Ld Judge directed that Geeta Devi’s family, including her husband and two children be given the claim of Rs. 1,18,25,000 for the loss of income, saying she had a progressive carreer in the government sector. Devi was working as an administrative officer in Life Insurance Company of India. In this National Lok Adalat orgnised at Dwarka Courts, overall 22 benches were constituted in which 2536 cases were settled and settlement amount was about Rs. 15,91,96,914. Hon’ble Justice U U Lalit, Judge Supreme Court of India virtually visited the MACT court of Sh. Sumedh Kumar Sethi and observed the proceedings and appreciated thereof.
