DLSA South-East, under the aegis of NALSA and in association with JAGRITI – Justice Awareness for Grassroots Information and Transparency Initiative Scheme, 2025, organised an awareness session on the topic “Dowry Prohibition Laws in India: Rights, Protection and Legal Aid for Women” on 18.09.2026 at Harijan Basti, Mechand Market, Lodhi Road, near the Banyan Tree School, New Delhi, in association with the NGO Udayan Care. The programme was organised with the objective of creating awareness among the participants about the provisions of dowry prohibition laws, the rights and legal protections available to women, and the availability of free legal aid and legal services. Adv. Anupama Singh, LSA, DLSA South-East, acted as the Resource Person and sensitised the participants about the Dowry Prohibition Laws in India, rights and remedies available to women, measures for protection against dowry-related harassment, and the salient working of DLSA. The participants were also made aware of the DLSA Helpline No. 1516 (24×7) and NALSA Helpline No. 15100. The programme also focused on creating awareness among the general public, women and children regarding their legal rights, protection against dowry-related offences, and access to free legal aid and justice. The programme witnessed the participation of approximately 40 students.
