Success Story –  Sexual Abuse

        An application for Sexual Abuse of three minor girls studying in EDMC School in the jurisdiction of P.S. Shakapur was received in DLSA East from one of the EDMC Counsellor deputed by Indian Medical Association in EDMC Schools for Counselling regarding Drug & Substance Abuse. The concerned Counsellor sent the written report to the Secretary, DLSA East and informed that during a Counselling Session in the concerned school, one of the girl student of that school brought the fact into the notice of that counsellor that her cousin brother has been sexually abusing her and her two sisters for a long time. After getting the details from the Counsellor, the Secretary, DLSA East immediately held a telephonic discussion with the DCP, East and conveyed the details. In continuation of the telephonic discussion, Secretary, DLSA East immediately wrote a letter to DCP, East mentioning therein the relevant details through special messenger with a request to take immediate necessary action as per law without delay. A copy of the said letter was also marked to SHO, P.S. Shakarpur, Delhi. Immediately after receiving the letter of Secretary, DLSA East, the DCP, East took immediate action and directed the concerned SHO to do the needful. The SHO, P.S. Shakarpur acted promptly in compliance of the aforesaid directions and deputed one Police Official to take necessary action. The medical examination of the victims was conducted. After obtaining the medical report, the FIR was registered at P.S. Shakapur and the accused was arrested.

Therefore, with the promptness shown by the DLSA East and the Police Authorities, the accused was put behind the bars.

 

Success Story  – Child Marriage

This is the story wherein a child marriage was stopped/cancelled due to the timely intervention of DLSA East. On 16.02.2018, an application was given by the sister of the minor girl to the legal aid counsel of East DLSA, Sh. Umesh Gupta and he submitted the said application before the DLSA East. On perusal of the said application, Sh. Umesh Gupta was appointed as legal aid counsel to do the needful for the appropriate legal action. In response to that our legal aid counsel approached the concerned authority at Delhi as well as Mathura, U.P. because the girl child taken to her native place at Mathura. After regular follow up and tireless efforts of the legal aid counsel, the marriage was cancelled.  In this regard, a letter was also received from the SSP Mathura. It is a matter of great pride for us that due to the timely intervention a child marriage was stopped and life of an innocent girl was saved. I congratulate and commend the excellent work done by our legal aid counsel Sh. Umesh Gupta. I also thanks to the authorities at Mathura specially Sh. Swapnil Mamgai, SSP Mathura.

          The aforesaid applicant approached this Authority on 09.02.2018 with a dispute with her inlaws after the death of her husband. She was sent to the front office of this Authority on the aforesaid date itself. After receiving the opinion of front office, the matter was directed to be placed before the counsellor and notices were issued to the opposite parties. The matter was placed before the counsellor on 05.03.2018 where both sides appeared.  However, no settlement could be arrived at in that sitting. Secretary, DLSA (East) himself had interaction with both sides on 24.04.2018 and after discussion parties agreed on discussing the matter further and to explore the possibilities of settlement. Matter was again directed to be placed before the counsellor. Several sittings were held by the counsellor with the parties and finally the parties arrived at a settlement and appeared before the counsellor with a Memorandum of Understanding. As per the terms of settlement, an amount of Rs. 9,20,000/- (Rupess Nine Lakh Twenty Thousand Only) was paid to the applicant by the opposite parties and all her stridhan articles and other valuables were also returned. It was further agreed between the parties that no parties shall file any claim/case against each other in any court of law pertaining to the matrimonial dispute arising after the demise of the husband of the applicant. Therefore, with the continuous efforts on the part of DLSA (East), the matter was amicable settled between the parties at pre-litigation stage and the same was closed accordingly.
