Success Story-I
A student named Rajan Singh, who was fighting against the atrocities and corruption which prevailed in a well renounced college of Delhi, was pursuing B.A. Hindi (Hons) from the said College. Sh. Rajan Singh at a very young age has been awarded “State Honour” by Delhi Government, “Gallantry Reward” by Delhi Police and has also been awarded by Government of Delhi for authoring a book titled as “Mera Kya Kasoor” and is also been awarded “Hindi Ratan Award-2017” and is presently nominated for Limca Books of records 2017-2018.
Sh. Rajan Singh was targeted for fighting against irregularities in the College. In his distressing situation, Sh. Rajan approached the office of New Delhi District Legal Services Authority seeking help as the said College arbitrarily refrained him from appearing in the Semester Examinations to be held in November, 2017.
Immediately after listening to his grievances, Secretary New Delhi DLSA appointed Ms. Aakriti Jain Chhabra, Legal Service Counsel to present the issue in court. Thereafter, Legal Service Counsel drafted the case and the same was filed that very day. New Delhi District Legal Services Authority left no stone unturned to help the student by rendering free legal aid and Legal Service Counsel also requested the authorities for urgent hearing of suit as the examination were scheduled to commence from 30.11.2017. On 29.11.2017, the suit was listed before Smt. Jasjeet Kaur, Learned JSCC/ASCJ/GJ at Patiala House Court and the court, after hearing the arguments by Aakriti Jain Chhabra, Legal Aid Counsel, was pleased to direct the college authorities to refrain from prohibiting Rajan Singh from appearing in the examination with the directions to release the admit card.
In the present matter, a student tried to highlight the misdeeds of the college officials, for which he was put in a situation where he might have to pay heavily which could also result in ruining his life and carrier but due to him right time intervention of New Delhi District Legal Services Authority, he could avoid and overcome the said situation.
