As directed by Ld. Member Secretary, DSLSA, Secretary DLSA East participated as Resource Person/Faculty to address the SHOs/Insprs during a “Professional Course on Effective Functioning of Police Stations” on 20.12.2016 at Specialized Training Centre, PS : Rajender Nagar. She delivered lecture and had interactive session with the participants on various topics viz Role & Responsibilities of Police in dealing with cases of Rape Victims, Human Rights, Rights of an Arrestee particularly women, Right to life & liberty under Article 21 of the Constitution, Sexual Harassment at Workplace etc. She satisfactorily responded to the various queries raised by the participants. DLSA East in association with DSLSA, SPYM, NCB organised a Legal Literacy-cum-Awareness Programme at St. Francis School, Indirapuram, on 20.12.16 on the topic “Drug & Substance Abuse & Provisions beneficial for the children” for the school students and their parents. Programme was attended by large number of participants including students, parents and teachers. Secretary DLSA East was herself the Resource Person for the Programme and delivered lecture and had interactive session with the participants. Participants were very enthusiastic during the Programme. Many queries were put by the participants which were very satisfactorily responded by the Secretary. The move was highly appreciated by the school authorities and a request was made by them to conduct such programmes in future also. Secretary DLSA East assured them to hold such programmes again.

East DLSA organized a visit of students from SKV No. 2, Mandawali, Delhi, (ID : 1002368) to observe proceedings of Karkardooma Courts on 19.12.2016. This was a nice Educational Trip for them. They watched proceedings of Courts of Metropolitan Magistrates, Sessions Judges, Additional District Judge, Additional Sessions Judge, Mediation etc. This was a reality check for the students as they had perceived a different concept of Courts as shown in pictures which could be changed through this visit only. The students remarked that an inquisitiveness to know about working of justice system in our country had developed by this visit.

She delivered lecture on various aspects relating to Role & Responsibilities of Legal Aid Counsels, mode of dealing with the litigants, DOs & DONTs for the legal aid counsels. She further gave an overview of NALSA Seven Schemes to the LACs and other important office procedures. The lecture was welcomed by all present.

East Dlsa has celebrated “Christmas Day” in Mandoli Jail on 16.12.16 at 4:30 pm onwards by organising Awareness-cum-Cultural Programme by and for Jail Inmates lodged therein. Jail Inmates displayed a play on the life on The Jesus which was very informative and thrilling. Secretary (DLSA)/East delivered lecture to Jail Inmates on various provisions related to them and also had interactive session with them in the presence of Jail Supdt and other Jail Authorities. The programme was welcomed and appreciated by all present. Such programmes shall be conducted in future also.
