West District Legal Services Authority, under the aegis of NALSA and DSLSA, successfully conducted a Legal Awareness Session on the topic “Creating Awareness Regarding Working of DLSA, Especially Pertaining to Victim Compensation” at Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, Paschim Vihar, Delhi, on 21st July 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The session aimed to educate students about the structure, functioning, and services provided by the DLSA, with a focused discussion on the Victim Compensation Scheme and the role of Legal Services Authorities in ensuring access to justice for the vulnerable. The session was efficiently coordinated by Ms. Tanushka Kohli, LAC, who ensured the smooth conduct of the event, captured high-resolution visuals, and submitted a detailed report of the proceedings. The students showed great enthusiasm and actively engaged with the subject matter, making the session both informative and impactful.

A joint meeting of the District SAATHI Committees of Central and West DLSA was successfully held on 18th July 2025 at Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi, under the chairpersonship of the Ld. Secretaries of both Central and West DLSA. The meeting focused on the coordinated and effective implementation of the SAATHI Scheme 2025 across both districts. During the session, both Secretaries directed the District Child Protection Officers (DCPOs) of Central and West DLSA  to provide the exact location details of destitute children. Based on the locations shared by the DCPOs, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) were instructed to carry out door-to-door campaigns to collect the necessary documents required for the issuance of Aadhaar Cards. After collection, the PLVs will submit the documents to the respective Tehsildars, who will scrutinize and process them accordingly. The meeting reinforced the importance of inter-district coordination and field-level action to ensure legal identity and inclusion for destitute children. On the occasion of International Criminal Justice Day, the West District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Tis Hazari Courts, conducted a legal awareness session at Tihar Jail No. 5 on 17th July 2025 from 2:00 PM onwards. The session was led by the Sh. Abhitesh Kumar, Ld. Secretary, West DLSA, on the theme “Every Accused Deserves a Voice: Legal Aid and Justice for Undertrials.” The event aimed to reaffirm the fundamental right of every accused person to fair legal representation and access to justice, regardless of their circumstances. During the session, inmates were informed about the availability of free legal aid, their rights as undertrial prisoners under Indian law, and the role of DLSA in ensuring timely and effective legal support. The Ld. Secretary also interacted with the inmates to address their legal concerns and guide them on the processes available for redressal. This initiative reflected the unwavering commitment of the West DLSA to uphold constitutional values, particularly the mandate under Article 39A of the Indian Constitution, by extending legal services to the most marginalized and ensuring that justice is accessible to all—even behind prison walls.
On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day (15.07.2025), the West District Legal Services Authority, under the aegis of NALSA and DSLSA, conducted a legal awareness session on the theme “Skilling Youth, Empowering Nation” at Tihar Jail No. 5. The session focused on sensitizing undertrial inmates about their legal rights, skill development opportunities, and the role of legal aid in rehabilitation and reintegration. The program was conducted by Adv. Manish Sharma. This initiative reflects the commitment of DLSA towards empowering youth behind bars through legal knowledge and skills, thereby fostering a path toward justice and self-reliance.
Ms. Rinku Parewa, Panel Advocate with the West District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Tis Hazari Courts, conducted a legal awareness session at Bhartiya Vidya Peeth Deemed University on 16th July 2025 on the topic of “Creating Awareness Regarding the Functioning of DLSA.” The session aimed to familiarize students with the role, objectives, and functioning of the Legal Services Authorities at the district level. Ms. Parewa highlighted the various services provided by the DLSA, including free legal aid, compensation to victims under Delhi victim compensation scheme 2018, legal literacy initiatives, and support for marginalized sections of society. The interactive session also focused on how law students and future legal professionals can contribute to the mission of access to justice. The event served as an important step in sensitizing youth about their legal rights and responsibilities, while encouraging active participation in legal aid and justice delivery mechanisms.
