The 1st Special Lok Adalat, exclusively for matters under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, primarily relating to cheque dishonour cases of the year 2026, was organised on 18.07.2026 under the guidance of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA). The programme aimed to provide an effective platform for the amicable settlement and expeditious disposal of cheque dishonour cases. A total of 07 benches were constituted at DLSA South-East to handle the matters referred by the regular courts, comprising 1,346 cases. During the Special Lok Adalat, 323 cases were successfully disposed of through mutual settlement. The initiative provided litigants with a valuable opportunity to resolve their disputes in a speedy, cost-effective, and hassle-free manner, thereby reducing the pendency of cases and promoting alternative dispute resolution.
