


Substance abuse, also known as drug abuse, is use of a drug in amounts or by methods which are harmful to the individual or others. Drugs most often associated with this term include: alcohol, amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabis, cocaine, hallucinogens, methaqualone, and opioids. People are getting used to drugs heavily very fast and destroying their own and their family’s lives.
In pursuance of the above, a legal awareness session was organised by the Shahdara District Legal Services Authority on 26.09.2026 at Shelter Number 19, behind Gagan Cinema , Nand Nagri, Delhi under the DAWN- Drug Awareness and Wellness Navigation Scheme with the objective of spreading awareness regarding prevention of drug abuse and its legal consequences.
During the session, resource person explained the causes leading to substance abuse among youth and discussed preventive measures, counselling facilities, and rehabilitation support available through legal and social welfare mechanisms.
