

Shahdara District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA), organized a community-level legal awareness session on 10.09.2026 onwards at Chaupal, Mochi Colony, Delhi.
The awareness session was conducted by Sh. Linkon Goswami, LAC, with the assistance of Ms. Meera, PLV, under the NALSA (ASHA – Awareness, Support, Help and Action) Standard Operating Procedure – Towards Eliminating Child Marriage, 2025.
The session focused on Dowry Prohibition, the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence, and the provisions of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. The participants were sensitized about the legal prohibition of dowry, different forms of domestic violence, the legal remedies available to women facing domestic violence, and the importance of reporting and seeking timely legal assistance in such cases.
Special emphasis was laid on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, including the legal age of marriage, consequences of solemnizing, promoting or facilitating child marriage, and the role of parents, guardians and members of the community in preventing such marriages. The participants were also informed about the adverse social, educational, health and legal consequences associated with child marriage.
