On 12.09.2026, an awareness session on “Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” was organized from 09:00 AM onwards at ICDS Centre, D-2 Block, Nand Nagri, Delhi, under the NALSA (DAWN – Drug Awareness and Wellness Navigation for a Drug-Free India) Scheme, 2026.
The session was conducted by Sh. Tariq Khan, LAC, with the assistance of Ms. Meera, PLV, with the objective of creating awareness among the participants regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse, prevention of substance dependence and the legal consequences associated with the possession, consumption and illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
During the session, the participants were sensitized about the physical, psychological and social consequences of drug abuse. The importance of early identification of substance abuse, seeking timely counselling and rehabilitation, and extending support to persons affected by drug dependence was also discussed.
The participants were further apprised about the role of Legal Services Authorities in providing free legal aid and assistance to eligible persons, particularly those belonging to vulnerable and economically weaker sections. The session also emphasized the importance of awareness among children, adolescents and families regarding the risks associated with substance abuse and the need for collective efforts to prevent drug-related harm in the community
