Shahdara District Legal Services Authority organized an Awareness Session on “Potection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and Reporting Mechanisms” on 07.09.2026 for the Children with disability.
The session focused on creating awareness regarding the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, and the safeguards available for children who are victims or witnesses of sexual offences. The participants were sensitized about the importance of protecting children from sexual abuse, recognizing signs of abuse, and ensuring timely reporting of offences.
The session also covered the various reporting mechanisms available under the POCSO Act, including the duty to report offences to the police or Special Juvenile Police Unit, and the importance of prompt intervention in cases involving children. The participants were also informed about the role of parents, teachers, caregivers and other responsible persons in ensuring the safety and protection of children
