An awareness session was organized by the Delhi State Legal Services Authority/District Legal Services Authority, Shahdara on 19.09.2026 at Seemapuri, under the NALSA JAGRITI (Justice Awareness for Grassroots, Information and Transparency Initiative) Scheme, 2025.
The session focused on creating awareness among the participants regarding the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 (MWPSC Act, 2007). The participants were apprised about the legal rights and protections available to senior citizens and parents under the Act, including their right to maintenance, measures for their welfare, and the legal remedies available in cases of neglect or abandonment.
The importance of seeking timely legal assistance was also explained, and the participants were informed about the role of Legal Services Authorities in providing free and competent legal services to eligible persons. The participants were encouraged to approach the DLSA/LAC for assistance in appropriate cases
