A legal awareness programme was organized on the occasion of National Girl Child Day on 24.01.2026 at 11:00 AM at G-Block, Sunder Nagri under the JAGRITI initiative. The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting awareness about the rights of the girl child and sensitizing the community regarding the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act.

The session was conducted by Sh. Sachin Kumar Verma, Learned Legal Aid Counsel (LAC), who addressed the participants on the importance of protecting the rights of the girl child and the need to eliminate gender-biased practices. He explained the key provisions of the PCPNDT Act, highlighting its role in preventing sex-selective practices and ensuring strict legal consequences for violations.

During the interaction, emphasis was laid on gender equality, the value of educating the girl child, and the collective responsibility of society in safeguarding her dignity and rights. The participants were encouraged to report any violations of the PCPNDT Act and to actively contribute towards creating a safe and equal environment for girls.

The programme witnessed active participation from the local community, and the session concluded with an interactive discussion, wherein queries raised by the participants were satisfactorily addressed. The programme successfully contributed to spreading awareness and reinforcing the message of “Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child.”
