A legal awareness session was organised by the Shahdara District Legal Services Authority on 11.07.2026 at Anganwadi Center, B-Block Nand Nagri, Delhi under the NALSA (ASHA– Awareness, Support, Help and Action) Standard Operating Procedure- Towards Eliminating Child Marriage, 2025 with the objective of spreading awareness regarding Dowry Prohibition and Domestic Violence Act And Provisions of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.
During the session, the participants were sensitized about the social and legal consequences of dowry, domestic violence, and child marriage. The Resource Person explained the rights and legal remedies available to victims, the penalties prescribed under the relevant laws, and the importance of timely reporting of such offences. Special emphasis was laid on the harmful effects of child marriage on the health, education, and overall development of children, particularly girls. The participants were also informed about the role of DLSA, the availability of free legal aid, and various welfare schemes for women and children.
